Italy. Modern and ancient, interesting dishes ...........

Italy
- officially the Italian Republic, is located on the Italian Peninsula in Southern Europe, and on the two largest islands in the Mediterranean Sea, Sicily and Sardinia. Italy shares its northern Alpine boundary with France, Switzerland, Austria and Slovenia. The independent states of San Marino and the Vatican City are enclaves within the Italian Peninsula, while Campione d'Italia is an Italian exclave in Switzerland.
The total land area of Italy is approximately 301,328 square kilometres. It is approximately 1,130 kilometres long and 160 kilometres wide for most of the peninsular. At its widest point in the north, it is 480 kilometres wide and at its narrowest point in the centre, it is 112 kilometres wide. Geographically, It is mostly mountainous, with narrow coastal plains. In general, Italy has a Mediterranean climate. It is mainly mild on the coast, becoming colder inland in the mountains. It can be extremely hot everywhere in the summer, and extremely cold in the north during the winter.
It is generally acknowledged that Italy is one of the most beautiful and interesting countries on earth. Visiting Italy, from Venice in the north to Sicily in the south, you will find that the wonderful contrasts of scenery, food, lifestyle and culture are totally absorbing. Italy has more Unesco World Heritage Sites to visit than any other country in the world and its great cities: Rome, Venice and Florence, have been the favourite destinations of tourists for centuries. In addition to visiting these treasures, Italian holidays can offer some of the best skiing, hiking, swimming, scuba diving and sailing to be found anywhere on the planet.

Aside from all of that, there is nothing better than people watching with a cup of coffee in the piazza, or enjoying a glass of wine over a long, lingering, Mediterranean lunch in the sunshine.
So, what should the first-time visitor to Italy aim to see? Here is a selection of favourite locations for Italy vacations:
Italian food is known and loved all around the globe and there is hardly a city in the world that does not have an italian restaurant or two. Supermarkets are full of italian ingredients from fresh cheeses and meats to pasta, tomato sauces, passata and pizza. Endless cookery books in many different languages are devoted solely to Italian cooking. True Italian food is actually very simple and made only from fresh ingredients that are in season. Rarely do meals have heavy sauces or spices to mask the taste of the fresh produce. A typical Italian meal is fairly rigid in construction and the four courses are what you would expect to get in any local restaurant. Due to the fact that Italy is a relatively new country and the individual regions had little contact with each other before this the food is very different from one region to the next. Added to this there is the geography, Italy is a long, narrow country with vast areas being very mountainous. The northern regions share a border with France, Switzerland, Austria and Slovenia, all of which greatly affect the cuisine. In the south, particularly in Sicily, the proximity of Africa and the warmer climate means that more exotic products can be grown and the local foods are spicier than elsewhere in Italy.

As known, Italy is one of the most developed countries and it is famous for his wonderful places of interest. I'm sure, you have listen many interesting facts about Italian traveling, but now I want to tell you about some of them. Let's go.
